Mehrdad II, also known as Mehrdad the Great, is the ninth Parthian King. He was given the title “Great” because of his authority in government and military affairs. He became the king when Iran was being attacked from all sides by different ethnic groups. With bravery and tact, Mehrdad took back all the occupied areas and extended Iran’s borders in the east to the Himalayan Mountains and in the west to the other side of Mesopotamia.
